VCSIP successfully met our goal of recruiting 252 pregnant women in June 2015!

Primary & Secondary  Outcomes:

We have completed the pulmonary function tests for our babies at 3 months of age and are currently working on completing pulmonary function tests for babies at 12 months of age and collecting data on the respiratory health of the babies through 12 months of age.

Please look for a clinical trials paper soon and results from the study out early 2017!

VCSIP plans to follow this birth cohort longitudinally to determine the potential longer term impact of supplemental vitamin C to pregnant women unable to quit smoking during pregnancy on their offspring’s respiratory health through five years of age.
